This Irish city has been named one of the top 10 gin capitals in the world

It makes a lot of sense.

We’ll cheers to that!

Dublin has been named one of the top ten gin capitals in the world – and Cork wasn’t too far behind.

Travel company Flash Pack carried out a study into the Gin Capitals of the World, which looked at more than 3,600 uses of the post popular gin-related hashtags on Instagram.

And after delving into the depths of the #Gin, #Ginoclock and #Ginlovers hashtags, they found the top 20 cities that are head over heels for the spirit.

Dublin tied with Linne in the Netherlands to take out spot number 10 on the list, while Cork ranked 20th in a five-way tie with Aachen, Germany; Florence, Italy; Los Angeles, United States and Vienna, Austria.

The top overall spot on the list went to London, where the overall number of distilleries doubled over the last six years – and 46 new distilleries have opened in the last 12 months alone.

Some of the cities that are fond of a G&T came as a bit of a surprise, according to Flash Pack’s co-founder Lee Thompson.

They added:

“It was surprising to see two Brazilian cities in the top 10 as we thought we’d see more American cities taking the top spots.”

The top 10 Gin Capitals of the World are:

  1. London, UK
  2. Berlin, Germany
  3. New York, USA
