How tragic – the UK looks to be suffering from a halloumi shortage

halloumi shortage

Good luck, lads.

Halloumi is delicious.

It’s great in burgers, it’s great in sandwiches, it’s great on BBQs, salads, and fried up in a pan pretending to be chips even though they’re not, they’re just strips of cheese but whatever, we won’t be complaining.

A few people who will be complaining though are halloumi fans living in the UK.

Because it looks as if there’s going to be a shortage of everyone’s favourite cheese over there… and we do not envy that situation.

The Scotland Herald reports that farmers in Cyprus are struggling to keep up with the UK’s demand for the cheese due to the fact that they are the second highest consumers of the stuff.

We don’t blame them, like.

Many British supermarkets have been running out of the cheese over the past week, leading to a lot of stress, much hassle, and a load of pissed off Brits.

Shame.

All is not lost though because the country’s main producer of the cheese, Pittas, has said that they’re doing their best to send “emergency supplies” to the UK – no matter the cost.
