Fancy a McDonald’s this weekend?

You’ll now be able to have some cucumber alongside your burger or nuggets.

Well, if you’re getting a kids’ meal, that is.

Customers who choose the healthy option in a Happy Meal will now get cucumber sticks.

They’ll be replacing carrot sticks on the menu between May and July.

It comes after research found that the vegetable is among the most popular healthy snack for kids, reports the Irish Sun.

“We are always working on ways to improve our Happy Meal and the introduction of cucumber sticks is an exciting step in this journey,” said Head of Family Marketing at McDonald’s UK and Ireland, Marie Emery.

“It can be tricky to get kids to enjoy their recommended fruit and vegetable intake but customers told us cucumber is a popular choice for families.

“More than a third of children already eat it between two and three times a week, so we’re delighted to be able to offer it as part of our Happy Meal.

“We’ll continue to listen to our customers and give them choices that work for their families.”

Happy days.

Aero McFlurry

In other exciting news, McDonald’s recently announced that its Aero McFlurry is making a comeback this summer.

The fan favourite returns to restaurants after four long years in both regular Aero and – more importantly – the Aero Mint flavours.

If you needed reminding, that’s the Aero Chocolate – soft dairy ice cream swirled with chocolate pieces and a chocolate sauce (obviously) and the Aero Mint – soft Dairy ice cream swirled with chocolate pieces and a peppermint sauce (obviously).

Sadly, they’re only back for eight weeks so we’ll be living in McDonald’s until they’re taken off the menu.
