7 of the tastiest vegan and veggie takeaways delivering in Dublin and Cork

Jade Hayden

Happy Eat Your Vegetables Day!

No, really. It’s a thing.

June 17 marks a time for celebrating vegetables, talking about vegetables and, of course, eating vegetables.

And while anybody following any diet can enjoy a delicious veg or two, for the day that’s in it we’re going to focus on the big dogs: vegetarians and vegans.

There are a plethora of takeaways currently boasting an array of delicious veggie and vegans foods that can be delivered straight to your gaff during lockdown.

It’s a market that has grown considerably over the past 12 months, with Deliveroo reporting a 187 percent increase in the number of vegan orders on the app in the past year, and a 89 percent increase in restaurants on the app  having a vegan option on their menu.

It really is the year of the plant.

And so, without further ado, here are some delicious restaurants across Dublin and Cork with fully vegan menus available for takeaway right now.

1. Sova Vegan Butcher (Dublin)

Try the Gyros: spiced soy pieces, mixed salad, hummus, tzatziki, jalapeno in fresh flat bread.

2. Vegan.KO (Cork)

Go for the CheesKO Burger: homemade ‘beef’ patty placed on a soft toasted bun topped with fresh lettuce, onions, tomato, gherkins, mustard, homemade burger sauce and melted ‘cheese’.

3. V (Dublin)

The Cauliflower wings – available in portions of 5 or 10. Enough said.

4. The Saucy Cow (Dublin)

Try the Hot Papi Fries: loaded fries topped with fried vegan “chick”, buffalo sauce, ranch, iceberg lettuce, and diced pickles.

And for the meat frequenters among us, never fear because there are plenty of restaurants out there offering a mixed menu to suit all dietary choices.

Here’s a few of the best operating in Dublin:

5. Token

The How’ye Love Vegan Nuggs are to die for.

6. Musashi

Try their Tofu Teriyaki 0 Deep, it’s fried tofu with mixed vegetables, served with steamed rice and teriyaki sauce.

7. Sprout & Co

Lots to love in Sprout, but the Super Guacabowle is top notch. It’s got guacamole, quinoa, seasonal farm greens, roasted squash, carrot, red cabbage, pomegranate, apple, toasted seeds, feta & French dressing.

You’re welcome, yeah?
