Woman is fined €400 for bringing an apple off a flight

Well, isn’t this annoying?

As exciting as travelling can be… it can also be a bit of a nightmare.

Especially if you have connecting flights, hopping off and on airplanes, and going through multiple security screenings can be totally draining.

However, this woman got just about the worst of it when she was fined $500 (€409) for bringing an apple off one flight and onto another.

Crystal Tadlock was given the fruit sealed in a wrapper on her Delta flight from Paris to Minneapolis on April 18. She decided to keep the piece of fruit in her bag until she made it onto the next airplane.

She told Fox 31 that as she was going through to the next gate, she was stopped for a random check by US Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service officials, and it was there that they found the apple.

She told the news station: “He had asked me if my trip to France was expensive and I said, ‘yeah’. I didn’t really get why he was asking that question and then he said ‘it’s about to get a lot more expensive after I charge you $500’.”

Crystal said that she pointed out the Delta wrapper on the fruit, but they didn’t care and still charged her.

“It’s really unfortunate someone has to go through that and be treated like a criminal over a piece of fruit,” she said.

Her Global Entry Status, which makes it easier to travel if you’re a frequent flyer, was also taken away.
