Wondering what to do for dinner? Wonder no more… it’s National Cheese Fondue Day

Tuesdays can be a bit meh... well trust the Americans to perk us up and bring a bit of happiness in the form of melted cheese.

Yes folks, it's National Cheese Fondue Day in the US and although it's not a nationally recognised holiday here in Ireland that's not going to stop us... it's melted cheese for crying out loud.   via GIPHY We've decided to adopt the day as our own on behalf of all cheese lovers across the nation. Fondue seems to dip (HA) in and out of favour with foodies as decades go by, it's a Swiss dish originally that popped up back in the 1930's and was popularised by North America in the 1960's. It's incredibly easy to make you simply melt cheese in a communal pot over a portable stove heated with a candle or lamp, you then eat the cheese by dipping bread into the cheese using long-stemmed forks. Bread and cheese... why don't we celebrate this here? Of course, we all know chocolate fondue is also incredibly popular, we do not discriminate... you mark the day however you'd like. Wie ein eigener Glücksbrunnen aus Käse: Brotfondue mit Mini-Würstchen. Dafür brauchst du: 1 runden Weichkäse (z.B. Camembert) 2 runde Portionen Blätterteig (∅ 32 cm) 26 Stücke Würstchen, je ca. 2,5 cm lang 1 Eigelb 1 EL Sesam So geht es: Schneide die Oberseite vom Weichkäse ab. So kommst du beim späteren Anschneiden besser an das flüssige Innere heran. Platziere den Käse mittig auf einer Portion Blätterteig. Nun deckst du den Teig um den Käse herum mit Backpapier ab und legst die zweite Teigportion deckungsgleich darauf. Platziere 13 der Wurststücke rundherum in gleichen Abständen am Rand des Teiges und schneide diesen zwischen den Stücken bis zum Käse ein. Dann rollst du die entstandenen Teigstreifen nach innen auf. In ihnen liegen jetzt die Würstchen. Entferne das Backpapier vom unteren Teig und wiederhole die Schritte: Wurst platzieren, Teig tortenstückartig einschneiden und aufrollen. Bestreiche dein Kunstwerk mit Eigelb und verteile Sesam darauf.
