WellFest 2019 proved to be the best year yet! Here are some of our favourite moments

What a weekend.

WellFest in association with KBC may be over but we will be taking the many wonderful exercise, wellness, and foodie tips we learned at WellFest and using them in our everyday lives for, well, forever.

Our first and absolute favourite thing about the weekend was that the sun was SHINING. Saturday and Sunday were both absolute scorchers, which meant we were able to bask in the sun’s warmth for the entire weekend as we exercised, relaxed, and ate. Having such fabulous weather really added to the fun.

On day one, Saturday, we started off the morning with Amanda Bisk’s full body sculpt and then a core burning exercise led by Bradley Simmonds on the KBC Main Stage. Not gonna lie, it was a tough start to the day but we definitely felt that sweet, sweet burn afterwards, so all’s well that ends well, ladies.

We continued our workout at the KBC Main Stage to some fab tunes with a little Pound Fit session, where everyone pounded luminous green drumsticks to the music beat. We may invest in some luminous green drumsticks because that was fun.

It wasn’t all high energy workouts. We also got time to relax a bit and do some mobility flow yoga with Richie Norton, aka The Strength Temple, and some Pilates with Platinum Pilates. We had a little chat with Richie Norton after his last class at the KBC WellGood tent on Saturday and he was as excited to see everything as we were. He was looking forward to Joe Wicks and the Happy Pear on Sunday and was heading off on his own little mission to see as many people as possible that he hadn’t seen live yet. Us too, Richie.

Day two at WellFest was just as fun and packed with activities.

Joe Wicks, aka The Body Coach, got us breaking a sweat on arrival (a very fun wake up) with a 25 minute HIIT session. Then we gave our cores a bit of an extra burn with Megan Roup’s workout.

The festival had plenty going on both days for every level of fitness, and loads of mindfulness, inspiring wellness, and nutrition talks for anyone who wasn’t big into the workouts.

Rozanna Purcell, who is a KBC WellGood Ambassador, and Deliciously Ella were on the WellFood stage on Saturday with delicious demonstrations to get the tummies rumbling. On Sunday, The Happy Pear were there with their recipes for happiness, as well as zero waste vegan chef Max La Manna.

Thankfully there were plenty of little healthy and energy-filled treats around to munch on during the day so we weren’t drooling TOO much during the demonstrations. There were oodles of vegan nibbles too for all the plant-based eaters out there.

When we felt like a bit of down time, we listened to some of the great wellness talks from people like Gerry Hussey, talking about understanding and unravelling the programmes of the unconscious mind, or to Fearne Cotton’s one-on-one chat with Joe Wicks.

We had SUCH an amazing weekend and our bodies and minds are feeling absolutely fab after all those sessions. We’re definitely going to keep going with all the good advice and we’ve already nabbed our early bird tickets for next year (they’re out now so go, go, go!). But you don’t have to wait that long for your next WellFest fix – the KBC WellFest Summer Tour hits Salthill in Galway on 8 June and the Showgrounds Cork on 6 July.
