Sick Day
When you’re sick, the only one that can make things better is your Mam. This can be a little difficult if you’re living in a different country/county and can’t make it home to be fussed over and hydrated with flat 7up.
Teddy Love
You still have a cuddly toy and no, you’re not about to resign him/her to the bin anytime soon. They hold special memories and who knows when you might need a cuddle.
Santa Claus
Santa presents will always be a thing as will Easter eggs.
We know the man in the red suit with the big white beard isn’t “real” but that’s no reason to backtrack on the gift giving (or the Easter Bunny chocolate for that matter). You might have to stop short at the Tooth Fairy though.
“When I Grow Up”
You still use the above phrase even if it is VERY obvious you are indeed a grown-up. Or at least you do a very good job of masquerading as one.
Peter Pan had the right idea with Neverland.
Afraid of the Dark
Not really BUT it’s perfectly understandable to keep the light on all night after watching The Exorcist. And check under your bed, twice, before you even get in to bed.
Side Note: If you watched Are You Afraid of the Dark? when you were younger, you’ll see where we‘re going with this.
Free Toy
Happy Meals are the best namely because of the free toy. Kinder Eggs too. Last week, one Her.ie staffer got a Tinkerbell ring (complete with an ink stamp) in her chocolate surprise. We kid you not.
Snow Day
Snowfall isn’t a regular occurrence in Ireland so when it does happen, we tend to get a little over excited. Snowball fights, build a snowman, and of course the chance of a snow day *YAY*
Cheesy Lyrics
Although you might consider yourself something of a music aficionado now, you still know every single word to Wannabe. And a few other choice pop tunes too.
Saturday mornings
As a kid, Saturdays were all about catching up on The Simpsons while eating multiple bowls of Frosties. Now, you might run to a full Irish /Eggs Benedict/ Nutella pancakes while watching Gossip Girl re-runs but the idea is still the same…
