Christmas is the season of giving and some people need a little more goodwill than others.

Denise Ryan suffers from Lyme Disease, a bacterial infection that affects various organs during different stages.

30-year-old Ryan from Rathfarnham in Dublin needs urgent medical treatment in the United States and has set-up a campaign to raise the funds.

3000 tenners aims to help Ryan reach her goal, after recently returning from California where medical help sadly did not go as planned.

“My time there was spent pretty much putting any and every conventional and alternative substance into every body route possible… It was harrowing, but just the possibilty of a positive effect got me through. Unfortunately that never came though, so It has been recommended that I go to an even more specialized clinic in Seattle at the end of January [sic]”, Ryan details on her fundraising page.

Over the last few years I’ve become very ill and I’m desperately trying to raise money to go to America for urgent medical treatment,” she explained to our brothers over at JOE.ie.

“I have severe Lyme Disease and a lot of co-infections that go along with that, but my family can’t afford to pay for me to go for treatment. I have a gofundme account which I’m hoping will help me to raise the funds.”

Vowing not to give up, Denise along with the help of family, friends and neighbours are determined that she meets the target  in order to be treated successfully.

“Yesterday my neighbour went on a run around Marlay Park for my fundraiser, I only found out through another neighbour, he was just going to leave the money in my mailbox. He is 69 years old”.

Denise, we wish you all the very best on reaching your goal.

You can do your bit by taking part in Denise’s ‘Cake Jumper Friday’ event next week (January 9th). All you have to do is wear an ugly jumper, a la Eoin McLove, to raise money. Find out more here.
