Is there anything worse?

When you’ve piles of work to finish and are in need of the best possible brain power to muster up your most extraordinary ideas – energy is NEEDED.

But alas – it hits 2.58pm – and our body is calling out for bed. However, there are four key ways to ensure you do indeed beat that afternoon slump, and here they are…

1. Coffee at This Time Only

If you’re going to drink coffee at all, only do it around 10.30am. Indeed, this is the time our cortisol levels are dropping and we’re feeling a bit more fatigued. Apparently, cortisol levels peak between 8am and 9am, making us more lively and energetic at this time. Your morning latte will feel much more affective if you wait until later when those cortisol levels begin to drop. And we all know starting the morning off right makes the afternoon a whole lot easier!

2. Bang Out The Favourite Tunes

Take 10 minutes to just blast out your favourite music. Music gets us revved up and excited. We want to dance, throw some moves and our brain LOVES it. We’d recommend making your afternoon playlist upbeat and fast. We promise it’ll help!

3. The Nose Trick

Yogi’s will know this one. If you need to wake yourself up, feel a bit more fiery and bright – get your left hand, use your left thumb to block your left nostril and keep your fingers pointing toward the sky, with your thumb still blocking your left nostril. Breathe like this through your right nostril for about three minutes and you’ll feel more awake. It’s bringing more oxygen to the left side of your brain, allowing you to feel more logical and energised. (Don’t ignore your other side either though, you need it for your creativity!)

4. Chocolatey Afternoon Buzz

And of course… chocolate lovers know all too well the delightful energy and joy a Cadbury Boost brings. It’s the perfect blend of biscuit-y goodness, with a soft chocolate centre, encased in chewy caramel and Cadbury milk chocolate. (NOM, NOM, NOM.) It’s not called Boost for nothing ladies and gentlemen. Prepare to feel alive, energetic and fit for just about anything after you’ve munched one down.
