7 new books that you won’t be able to put down this May

Keeley Ryan

Another month, another batch of amazing books.

If you’re on the search for something new to read this May, we’ve got you covered.

Whether you’re looking for a gripping mystery to sink your teeth into on vacation or simply want a romance novel to curl up with, there’s plenty of new (and amazing) titles hitting the shelves over the next few weeks.

Here are 7 books you won’t be able to put down this May.

The Overdue Life of Amy Byler by Kelly Harms

Overworked and underappreciated, single mom Amy Byler needs a break. So when the guilt-ridden husband who abandoned her shows up and offers to take care of their kids for the summer, she accepts his offer and escapes rural Pennsylvania for New York City.

Usually grounded and mild mannered, Amy finally lets her hair down in the city that never sleeps. She discovers a life filled with culture, sophistication, and—with a little encouragement from her friends—a few blind dates.

But before she can choose, a crisis forces the two worlds together, and Amy must stare down a future where she could lose both sides of herself, and every dream she’s ever nurtured, in the beat of a heart.

Saltwater by Jessica Andrews

Lucy is over the moon when she wins a place at university; thinking that London will be the key to unlocking her future: it’s a city alive with pop up bars, cool girls and neon lights illuminating the Thames at night. Or at least, that’s what she expects.

But her transition to her new life is way more overwhelming than she ever could have expected. And, as she works long shifts to make ends meet and navigates chaotic parties from East London warehouses to South Kensington mansions, she still feels like an outsider among her fellow students.

When things come to a head at her graduation, Lucy takes off for Ireland, seeking solace in her late grandfather’s cottage and the wild landscape that surrounds it, wondering if she can piece together who she really is.

It’s the story of a married couple: they met, fell in love and had two gorgeous children. So far, pretty normal. But they’ve got a very dark secret – and things are never quite as they seem.

Little Darlings by Melanie Golding

Lauren is alone on the maternity ward with her new-born twins when a terrifying encounter in the middle of the night leaves her convinced someone is trying to steal her children. Desperate with fear, she locks herself and her sons in the bathroom until the police arrive to investigate.

When DS Joanna Harper picks up the list of overnight incidents that have been reported, she expects the usual calls from drunks and wrong numbers. But then a report of an attempted abduction catches her eye. The only thing is that it was flagged as a false alarm just fifteen minutes later.

Harper’s superior officer tells her there’s no case here, but she can’t let it go so she visits the hospital anyway. There’s nothing on the CCTV. No one believes this woman was ever there. And yet, Lauren claims that she keeps seeing the woman and that her babies are in danger…
