Climb Croagh Patrick

A famous pilgrimage, the mountain of Croagh Patrick, known locally as ‘The Reek’ is about 10km west out of the town. Get your walking shoes on, round up your friends and make a day of it. There’s nothing quite like the satisfying feeling of getting to the top.

Westport House & Gardens

Channel your inner pirate in the stunning surrounds of Westport House & Gardens, famous for once being home to the legendary pirate queen Grace O’Malley back in the 16th century.

The house is one of Ireland’s most beautiful historic homes and is full of original artefacts and artworks, with a different treasure around every corner. Take a paddle boat out on the water to fully appreciate the views and make time for some Afternoon Tea.

Zorbing and Zipwiring

If there’s one way to get your adrenaline pumping then it’s to head along to adventure activities such as Zorbing, Zipwiring and the High Ropes, all located in the grounds of Westport House & Gardens. If that’s all a bit too hectic for you then why not try your hand at a spot of golf on Westport’s Championship Golf Course and Driving Range.

Cycle the Greenway

The Great Western Greenway is a recent addition to Westport’s many attractions and features 42km of off-road cycling and walking. Pick up your bike from Clew Bike Hire and hit the trails with their superb views of Clew Bay and the surrounding areas.

Dine in style

Westport is all about the food, and no matter where you stop off, there’s sure to be some gorgeous dishes on offer. Try out the seafood which is second to none, and make sure to bag yourself a fabulous cocktail to wash it all down – amazing.

Westport is famous nationwide for its night life and regardless of what time of year you go, there’s always something happening. Head to one of the many late bars or dance your cares away in the night club. Either way, you’re sure to have a brilliant night, with live music in most of the bars too.
