Deodorants do not block sweat glands, they just make you smell.... less bad. Antiperspirants work by forming a gel with the moisture in your armpits that blocks up your sweat gland.
Gross, but effective.
There have been health concerns around the usage of anti perspirants for several years now, but according to Tech Insider, this worry may be unwarranted.
The active ingredients are usually aluminium salts, which had been linked to cancer but according to the National Cancer Institute they; "are not aware of any conclusive evidence linking the use of underarm antiperspirants or deodorants and the subsequent development of breast cancer."
There had also been some concerns that there was a link between aluminium exposure and Alzheimer's disease, but this was later revealed to be unfounded.
And don't worry if blocking up sweat glands in your arm pits sounds unhealthy as you have several other sweat glands around the body where it can be excreted.
So, it looks like we can spray away freely. Result.
