Bride-to-be’s open letter to her husband’s ex-girlfriend is legit terrifying

Jade Hayden

husband's ex-gilfriend

C’mon girl, take a seat.

Getting married is supposed to be a lovely, fun, and exciting time.

You love someone (maybe), you want to spend the rest of your life with them (probably), and it’s all very fun and grand (potentially).

Still though, despite this it’s not uncommon for people of all genders to have a bit of a freak out once the big day is approaching – it’s a very stressful time for all involved, you know?

However, the majority of us don’t go ahead write our husband-to-be’s ex-girlfriend an open letter bragging about the fact that we get to marry him and they don’t.

Yeah, that would be weird.

One person who did do that exact thing though is student Victoria Higgins.

She published an article on The Odyssey all about her, ahem, loving relationship and how it was so much better than whatever relationships her fella had before her.

It was entitled: You May Have Worn The Prom Dress With Him, But I Get To Wear The Wedding Dress.

Yeah.

We know.

This glorious piece of writing included beautiful and well-meaning quotes such as:

“I wish that I could say I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you, but I can’t.”

And

“He is mine now, and I get to cherish him forever.”

And

“I hate that you got to go to all of the school dances with him.”

And

“I am sure you had fun choosing his matching tux to your dress.”

And

“I am getting to match his tux with our wedding colors.”

And

“He will get to see me walk down the aisle and then every day forever. I get to love him forever.”

Yeah. Intense, right? And just a bit terrifying.

Lots of other people thought so too – and rightly so because it’s definitely not normal to have such a hang up on someone your fiancee went to a dance with when they were younger.

And even if you do, you probably wouldn’t write an open letter about it, like.

G’luck, man.
