This is the couple most Irish people want to ‘third wheel’ this Valentine’s Day

Katie Mythen-Lynch

We would still deem it something akin to torture, but it seems one in two Irish people would be happy to ‘third wheel’ a couple on Valentine’s Day.

And the couple most Irish third wheelers most want to hang out with? Conor McGregor and Dee Devlin, of course.

A whopping 20% of people polled by Deliveroo said, given the opportunity, they’d happily spend the most romantic day of the year in the company of the Notorious one and his pregnant partner, even if they couldn’t bring a date.

Irish rugby star Brian O’Driscoll and his wife, the author and actress Amy Huberman followed second with 12% of the vote, leaving President Micheal D Higgins and his partner Sabina Coyne in third with 7%.

Lovable Friends character Joey Tribbiani, Chandler and Monica take the number one spot as the ultimate third wheelers, beating Harry Potter and his friends Hermione and Ron, along with Prince Harry, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the prize of ultimate third wheel couple, crowned in honour of Deliveroo’s ‘Third Wheel Meal Deal’, which runs from February 9th to 19th.

Interestingly, the survey revealed that 35% of Irish women say February 14th is not that important to them, compared to 42% of men.

When it comes to inviting a third wheel however, we differ considerably: 42% of men said that they thought having a guest at the dinner table would improve their date night, while 39% of women believe it would ruin the mood.

Take note, boys.
