Facebook Has Changed How You Upload and Share Your Pictures

How you share your pictures is about to change...

Facebook is still fighting the good fight against other image-heavy social networking sites and this week has rolled out some updates that will change how you share your pictures.

Changes to the Facebook app rolled out on Monday now allows users to organise pictures and post in batches via their smartphones.

Giving users more control over the upload process and how their images will be displayed, the app now generates a preview for the user and allows them to rearrange the order by a click and drag function.

The changes are part of Facebook’s strategy to encourage users to share ‘stories’ rather than albums, so tags, locations and captions can all be added to snaps within this view. When the user is happy to hit upload, the chosen pictures are displayed in collage format.

Speaking to Mashable, Facebook product manager for photos Rose Yao said: “It’s not just about the weddings and big trips. It’s about the silly daily moments, too.”

“I think Facebook is in some ways a proxy for dinner tables. It used to be you pulled out your wallet and showed people your latest photos of your kids or your dog. Now you can do this in the moment.”
