During the festive season, sometimes our minds can turn towards those less fortunate than us who might be struggling to pay bills, mortgages or even feed their families. We feel lucky and privileged because of what we have.

First of all, we tend to use food drives as a way to get rid of food that we have had lying around for a while, (kidney beans anyone?).
Secondly, someone has to transport and sort through all of the cans, and canned food doesn't really have a lot of nutritional value in general.
The best way to donate is to give money directly to charities and foodbanks, so they can buy fresh food for those in need.
