In support of Independent fashion retailers nationwide, two of Ireland’s leading fashion crusaders, Brendan Courtney and Sonya Lennon have launched ‘frockadvisor’, a dedicated social platform (or app) for fashion fans and fashion businesses, connecting users to the fashion community and creating dialogue between them and their favourite stores.  In celebration of the frockadvisor launch, the duo behind fashion label Lennon Courtney has declared Thursday May 22nd ‘Fashion Independent’s Day’.

On Fashion Independent’s Day, people are asked to get out and support local businesses; pop into your local fashion boutiques and see what’s on offer, meet the people behind the stores and delve into their fashion knowledge.

Participating frockadvisor retailers are encouraged to offer added incentives to shoppers by offering special discounts or hosting customer appreciation events on Thursday 22nd May, Fashion Independent’s day. Consumers can download the free frockadvisor app for updates on local participating retailers taking part in the unique event.

Brendan & Sonya will be taking to the road on the 22nd, driving in a straight line across Ireland they will pop into as many indpendent retailers as possbile – raising a glass and taking selfies to generate noise for #FIday.

Through the app, customers can find and follow their favourite fashion friends and boutiques for style inspiration, browsing and shopping. The ‘fotocon’ element is a completely unique feature of the app, allowing users to post a picture of their ‘wish list’ fashion item. The frockadvisor community then respond and come together to help find the desired item or something similar in one of the participating frockadvisor boutiques and post a picture back.

Together Sonya Lennon and Brendan Courtney have 35 years experience in the fashion industry, are widely regarded for their unique personal style and possess a deep understanding of the fashion industry and a clear sense of what the customer wants. Speaking about the new venture, Brendan Courtney said: “frockadvisor puts excellent customer service in to your hand. We are a frockadvisor customer… and we LOVE it!”

As well as the direct sales leads generated through the ‘fotocon’ feature, there are a number of benefits to the retailer from frockadvisor, including increased brand awareness, direct access to a broad and engaged audience and the ability to deliver enhanced customer service, thus encouraging repeat customers and increased sales. Being a part of the frockadvisor community allows independent boutiques to break down digital barriers; extend their reach, creating direct sales leads  and increase online sales through the ‘buy it now’ functions. Retailers can also use the app as a platform to connect and inform customers of new products, upcoming sales and events, providing a great opportunity to grow their fashion business.

The app is available on the Apple and Android market and is free to download. Independent boutiques can register as a retailer on the FrockAdvisor app for a monthly fee of €50. A special launch rate of €150 for 3 months is available and includes a complimentary advertisement on the back page of the Irish Times newspaper.
