Men Will Soon Be Able To Get A New Fail-Safe Contraceptive, But There’s A Catch…

We can’t see this going down too well.

There’s a new male specific contraceptive set to hit the shelves… but we’re not sure too many men will be willing to feel the pinch for this one.

And no, we don’t mean on their wallet.

Indian scientists have finally worked on a contraceptive drug for men, but the treatment involved an injection into the scrotum.

*We’ll give you a minute to wince*

The RISUG (Reversible Inhibition of Sperm Under Guidance) requires a doctor injecting a synthetic gel called Vasagel into a tube outside the testicle.

The gel will act as a filter – preventing sperm from passing through.

The treatment is expected to last roughly 10 years, offering a long-term reversible alternative to a vasectomy for sexually active men.

Speaking to Vice, Aaron Hamlin, executive of the Male Contraceptive Initiative said:

“There’s nothing for you as a person to screw up. When you have a method that doesn’t require you to do anything, like Vasalgel, you get the injection into the vas deferens and walk out the door.

“After all that’s done, when it’s time for you to have sex, everything you’ve had to do is already done.”

The trial is currently in its final stages of clinical trials.
