Clean out the clutter and take a few simple feng shui steps to ensure a harmonious flow ofd energy through your bedroom.

Your bedroom should be a place where you can chill, read, sleep and get a bit of loving on, not somewhere you have to stare at dirty makeup wipes, shoe clutter and un-ironed clothes.

It’s time for a clean-up and a bit of bedroom re-organisation to get your feng shui flowing.

A good feng shui bedroom is one that invites you in and excites and calms you at the same time.

We’ve compiled some tips at Her.ie to help you get your bedroom life back in order…

Clear Out The Electronics

The good feng shui energy in your bedroom is destroyed when these items are hanging around. Get rid of the computer, television and any over-powering electronics in your room. Your bedroom is not the place for them according to feng shui.

Keep The Air Fresh

Open the windows often to keep the air fresh and full of oxygen. It doesn’t have to be sunny outside to have the windows open. Opening them a crack, even on a rainy day, will keep your sleeping space fresh and the air quality good.

Throw Out The Plants

You cannot have a good energy flow in your bedroom if your window sill is host to ten different plant species. The space is not big enough for the two of you to live compatibly. If your bedroom is large enough to accommodate plants comfortably, make sure they are located far from the bed.

Lighting Is Key

Have several different levels of lighting in your bedroom. Good, appropriate lighting is important. It is our number one nutrient and one of the strongest energy-makers. But we don’t always like to have the harsh overhead light glaring at us. Have a bedside lamp and the option to turn on a lower light in the room. Candles are the best feng shui bedroom lighting, and will get you in the romantic mood too…

It’s All About The Colour

Use soothing colours to achieve a good feng shui balance in your bedroom. Feng shui décor is balanced and promotes the best flow of energy for a restorative sleep, as well as, eh-hem, sexual healing. The best feng shui colours for the bedroom are so-called “skin colours”, anything from pale white to rich chocolate brown.

Be Careful Of Images

The best feng shui advice to give about pictures on your wall is to make sure you choose images that you want to see happening in your life. Unless you enjoy being lonely and sad, don’t have images conveying those feelings on your wall.

Where To Put The Bed?

The basic feng shui guidelines instruct for you to have your bed easily approachable from both sides, to keep the bed balanced with a bedside table on either side and to avoid having the bed in a direct line with the door.

Keep Your Doors Closed

Keep your bedroom door closed at night, and every other door in your bedroom too. This includes wardrobe doors, the en-suite bathroom door and other drawers you may have. This will allow for the nourishing flow of energy to stay within the room and strengthen the health of your relationship. Keeping your wardrobe clean and organised will also create a sense peace and calm in your sleeping space.

Finally, De-Clutter

The idea of a perfect feng shui bedroom is a space of peace, calm and cleanliness. It will be much easier to maintain this feeling if your room is spacious, de-cluttered and clean.
