Research Predicts That Irish Shoppers Will Spend A Mad Sum Of Money On Christmas

YIKES.

Cathy Donohue

Christmas is only six weeks away which means lights and decorations are going to be all over the place soon enough.

With that in mind, Irish website WebLoyalty has predicted just how much we’re going to spend over the Christmas period and you might want to brace yourself.

The company thinks that shoppers across the Emerald Isle will spend €1.59 billion on presents next year, a figure which is up almost three per cent from last year’s total.

That’s a LOT of money

Our JOE bros brought our attention to the statistics and it seems that the average spend on gifts alone is €871 million.

63 per cent of people will shop for up to ten hours altogether to get the perfect gift while 14 per cent will go the extra distance and spend 24 hours shopping.

The reward programme provider also said that 38 per cent will shop online using a mobile.

So there you have it, it looks like the ‘Celtic Tiger’ era is making a comeback, slowly but surely.
