Something was biting on the end of this fsherman’s line when he pulled a fish out of the sea, with a full set of teeth.
Aleks Korobov pulled a catch with a difference from the sea, snaring a bream with full set of human teeth.
The Russian angler was out fishing on the Northern Dvina River in north-western Russia’s Arkhangelsk Oblast district, when he caught what he thought was just a normal bream.
The shock came when Korobov opened the mouth of his catch to reveal a full set of pearly whites:
“I opened its gills which were nice and red but I noticed the mouth wasn’t right for a bream and when I opened it I nearly dropped the thing in surprise.”
Aleks later contacted the Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography who will carry out an autopsy to uncover how the bream got a bite.
Institute expert Gennady Dvorykankin believes the fish is most likely a tropical species that someone dumped in the river, adding:
“We are convinced it is a member of the Piranha family, and that it is a herbivore piranha, not one of the meat eating ones you see in films.”
