It’s time to start stocking up on chocolate ladies as reports have stated this week that there may be trouble ahead for the chocolate industry.
According to reports, a number of experts in the industry, alongside one of the world’s biggest manufacturers, Barry Callebaut Group, have warned that the world is running out of chocolate.
Experts have stated that due to the high level of consumption of the popular confectionary, the cocoa crops cannot keep up with demand which is increasing year by year. Manufacturer Barry Callebaut Group has also warned that there could well be “a potential cocoa shortage by 2020”.
The group revealed that they have recorded an 11.8% increase in chocolate sales, and have registered a massive increase in sales during the last 12 months.
The news follows just a short time after Mars Inc. raised concerns about the same issue, highlighting the fact that there could be a global shortage of cocoa.
