The French can still be happy though as Paris was ranked as the number one spot for the best dating scene, with Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing and Chicago making up the rest of the top five.
Elsewhere, Sydney was voted as having the happiest singles while it was the exact opposite in New York with 45 per cent of people stating they were ‘sad to be single’.
Fifty eight per cent of people also admitted to checking out a prospective beau on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites.
