Throwing A Halloween Party? These Spooky Sups Are the Perfect Cocktails For A Frightfully Good Night

With costumes at the ready, and the weekend calling, Halloween is the perfect excuse to experiment with your bartender’s bite!

From a vampire’s kiss to a green goblin, which spooky sip will leave you gasping for more?

First up are two sample treats from the collection of Halloween spooktacular treats at the Shelbourne Hotel this weekend. With  themed window displays, cocktails and surprises for guests along the way, it’s definitely more treats than trickery in store this weekend! Here, the bar team share their recipes for Dracula’s Own Martini and a Bleeding Heart Martini.

Bleeding Heart Martini

240ml Bombay Sapphire premium gin

20ml dry vermouth

16 pickled baby beets, 4 of each placed on a cocktail skewer

(Makes 4)

Method

Chill 4 martini glasses for about 5 minutes.

Pour the vermouth into the 4 glasses, dividing evenly. Swirl to thoroughly coat the glasses, and then pour out.

Add gin to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously until chilled, then divide among the chilled glasses.

Garnish each with a skewered pickled baby beet, and serve immediately.

Vampire Martini 2 (1)

Dracula’s Own Sangria

  • 210ml Hennessy Cognac
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 1 red apple, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 bottles well-chilled dry red wine, Rioja
  • 200ml soda water
  • 300ml fresh orange juice

(Makes 6)

Method

In a large pitcher, stir together brandy, orange and apple slices and let stand for 15 minutes.

Add wine, soda water and orange juice. Serve over ice in a wine glass.

Vampires Kiss

Ingredients

  • 35.5 ml Absolute Vodka
  • 15 ml Gordons Gin
  • 15 ml Martini Extra Dry
  • 1 Bar Spoon of Tequila
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 50 ml Tomato Juice

Method:
This one’s nice and easy, just combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake well and strain over ice into a highball glass. Garnish with large slice tomato to finish. 

 

Green Goblin

Ingredients

  • 20 ml Midori
  • 20 ml Yellow Chartreuse
  • 20 ml Ginger Liqueur
  • Top up with Ginger Beer

Method:

Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Shake well and pour into a wine glass. Top up with Ginger beer and garnish with a bright red strawberry.

Coffee of the Damened

Ingredients

  • 20 ml J&B
  • 20 ml Brandy
  • 10 ml Tequila
  • 15 ml Spoon of Sugar Syrup
  • Double shot of Coffee

Method:

  • Pour all the ingredients into a latte glass and stir well
  • Top with whipped cream and garnish with grated lemon skin

 Jack-o-lantern Juice

Ingredients:

  • 40 ml Buffalo Trace
  • 50 ml Freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 15 ml Lime Juice
  • Ginger ale 

Method:

  • Mix the Buffalo Trace, orange juice and lime juice in a cocktail shaker and pour into a half pint glass and top up with ginger ale.
