Twitter users are noticing that their profiles look a little different this morning, and no one is very happy about it.
The micro-blogging site has removed custom backgrounds for users, replacing all of the carefully selected personal snaps or designs with a universal pale grey backdrop.
Many are tipping the move as the latest in a series of strategies to make the social networking site more like its long-time rival Facebook, but users have not been shy about expressing their unhappiness.
God sake @twitter why are you doing this again

Web @Twitter is even uglier now that they’ve removed background images. Keep on keeping on with that erosion of the user experience!

@twitter Not personally thrilled with what feels like a sudden “war” on custom backgrounds. Of course, I’m just 1 voice, set to be ignored. — Vic (@Invictus75) July 21, 2015
I’m not into shades of grey, not even when only talking of my profile background, so give me my background pattern back, @twitter, please!
