Weekend Roundup – 10 Things Her.ie Loved This Week

We loved many things this week. Here are ten of them.

Her

These are a few of our favourite things… for this week at least.

Sweet Like Chocolate

Cathy‘s day (no scratch that, her week) was made when Butlers sent in a special delivery of their signature hot chocolate this week. If you haven’t tried the white hot chocolate, then you should do so right away. According to her, it’s heaven in a drink. Yes really.

Trench Town

Rebecca decided to invest (she says invest because it makes her feel better about spending money) in a lovely mac at the weekend. It’s stylish but super practical AND it was in the sale! If that wasn’t fate aligning, we don’t know what is!

Hanging Out on Home Turf

This week, Liz took some time off and went back to home turf. Enlisting the company of a friend for a proper catch-up, she walked along the Dublin coast and remembered just how much she loves to live beside the sea. For anyone who rents in a built-up area of the city, she thinks it should be mandatory to take a trip to one of the small seaside towns. Liz went back to Bayside and happened to take a snap of the stunning view from her stroll.

If you ever have an afternoon and you’re at a loose end in Dublin, Liz suggests you take a trip to Howth and see it for yourself.

Boohoo Before Christmas

Michelle is a big fan of a fashionable bargain, so the new lookbook for Boohoo.com’s #NightsBeforeXmas was met with open arms and a willing (but under pressure) credit card. Basically, she’d like one of everything in the picture below.

Ouija? We Would Ya

Actually using an Ouija board? Not on your nelly. But a cake version is something we can certainly get on board with. The good folks at Universal Pictures sent us this frankly amazing cake on Thursday and we’re still munching our way through it. The next thing to do is buy more pants with elasticated waistbands. Delish.

Hair Affairs

Mary headed home at the weekend where herself and the mammy were treated to a two-hour styling and getting their colours done session from Ruby Seven. Mary was loving life, getting all the tips about shapes and style, and also finding the colours that she should be wearing… ah sure any excuse to go shopping really!

Love for Lucius

Marie took a trip to Whelan’s last Saturday night for what was one of her most anticipated gigs of the year. Having missed them at The Workman’s in April, she was delighted to get another chance to see the New York five-piece and they really delivered a special performance on the night. If you don’t know them, make sure to check out their Wildewoman album – it’s a regular on the Her playlist!

Naked Ambition

Here in the Her.ie office, we love make-up and Urban Decay is one of our favourites. You can imagine how excited we got about the brand’s biggest EVER counter opening in the Henry Street branch of Debenhams. Think about it, all those Naked palettes. You’ll just have to call in for a look…

Sky’s the Limit

As a fan of good shows and wine, Rebecca was over the moon when these Sky 1 goodies came into the office. Modern Family is one of her favourite shows so this weekend, she is planning on sitting down and catching up with the fifth series.

Bored in the Kitchen? This Is The Cookbook Cure

This week, Liz’s love affair with cooking took her back into the kitchen when her friend lent her a copy of ‘The Extra Virgin Kitchen’ by Susan Jane White. Although she loves to sample new food, sometimes it’s hard to find recipes that cater to a dairy and wheat free diet that won’t upset her tummy (yes, it’s hard being this cool). She’s busy testing her way through the book, but with a review on site this week, she knows so far it’s getting a thumbs up from her.

Salmon fishcakes with curried coconut yoghurt is currently her favourite bite from the book…
