Why Drinking Coffee Before Your Job Interview Is A Really Bad Idea

Okay we didn't know this.

Cathy Donohue

When going for an important job interview, you’ll want to do all you can to ensure you get the job.

It can be very difficult to control your nerves and pretend that you’re cool, calm and collected but there are certain steps you can take to help the situation.

Previously, nutritionist Sara Vance spoke to ELLE and said that coffee is one of the worst culprits for making you jittery and upping the pre-interview fear.

As an alternative, she recommends choosing a cup of green tea as it will give you a caffeine hit while also calming you down, thanks to the calming L-Theanine component.

There’s less caffeine that a standard coffee order and as Sara says, “it will provide energy, but won’t make you jittery”.

To avoid your stomach grumbling during the all-important meeting, dietitian Erin Palinski-Wade told the publication that a snack rich in carbohydrates will help.

Opt for a banana, some whole-grain cereal and/or yogurt as this will “prevent hunger while providing you with the energy and mental clarity to ace the interview”.
