Women say ‘sorry’ more than men every single day

Olivia Hayes

We kinda knew this, right? Well, now it’s in black and white for us.

A new survey has found that women say sorry way more times in their lives than men do. Whether it’s saying sorry in a work email, grazing off someone while rushing past in the street or saying something incorrect in a discussion, we say sorry a LOT during the average day.

The research, conducted by SerentaFlowers.com, saw that women apologise on average 295,650 times in their lives.

The survey was carried out on 1000 adults and found that men say sorry around eight times a day while women excuse themselves about 10 times per day which means we’re 25 percent more likely to apologise than men.

Maja Jovanovic, Ph.D., sociology professor at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada told NBC why she thinks women believe they should apologise more than our male counterparts.

“If men deem an infraction egregious enough, they apologise. The problem is they find very few infractions deserving of an apology, and women are apologising for just about everything.”

Basically, when it comes down to it we don’t want to seem rude… but you know, sometimes there’s just no need.

Of course, there are many cases when it’s right to say sorry for something you did, but just not all day, every day.
