Legendary rock band AC/DC has announced details of their new album and confirmed the departure of Malcolm Young.

It had been rumoured that the band were set to retire earlier this year when guitarist Malcolm Young was struck down by illness but the group announced that 17th studio album, Rock or Bust, will be release on December 1st.

In a press release for Rock or Bust, AC/DC’s label confirmed that Malcolm was no longer part of the group: “Unfortunately, due to the nature of Malcolm’s condition, he will not be returning to the band.”

Stevie Young, the nephew of founding members Angus and Malcolm, replaced his uncle on rhythm guitar on the new album and is due to join the band on the tour.

The Thunderstruck stars recorded the album during spring in Bryan Adams’ Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, the first release since their 2008 record, Black Ice.

The veteran rockers also announced a 2015 to coincide with the album’s release. We’ll see you there!
