It only makes sense really.

Adele is having one hell of a moment, and she has now been named the first live performer at the BRIT awards 2016.

She will take to the London O2 Arena stage on February 24th to perform at the 35th annual prizegiving.

In a statement, BRIT chairman Max Lousada explained why Adele is the obvious choice.

He said: “You couldn’t get a bigger name in music right now.

“Adele is having an exceptional moment and The BRITs are delighted to be a part of her history, her present and future.”

The three-time BRIT award winner’s 2011 performance of Someone Like You was one of the most talked about in the ceremony’s history.

At the time, the 27-year-old explained to ITV2: “I was really emotional by the end because I’m quite overwhelmed by everything anyway.

“And then I had a vision of my ex, of him watching me at home and he’s going to be laughing at me because he knows I’m crying because of him, with him thinking, ‘Yep, she’s still wrapped around my finger.’ Then everyone stood up, so I was overwhelmed.”

Aaahhh, how does she manage to ALWAYS make us cry.
