After yesterday’s devastating news, millions of people were left feeling a little bit heartbroken all over the world. As fans and artists alike paid tribute to David Bowie, it was comforting to the many that will feel his loss.

Musicians and public figures like Madonna, St Vincent and J.K. Rowling all voiced their grief following the sad news. Now legendary singer Debbie Harry, of Blondie fame, has taken to the internet to talk about what Bowie meant to her.

The New York punk pioneer spoke to Rolling Stone of his kindness and creativity, and how he helped Blondie at the start of their career, “Without this visionary and his friend Iggy Pop where would Blondie be today? Silly question and one that can’t be answered really, but there is no doubt in my mind that Bowie played a big part in our future successes.”

Harry described the late singer as, ‘A visionary artist, musician, actor, a complete renaissance man.’

There were incredible scenes at The Ritzy Cinema in Brixton last night, where thousands of fans celebrated the life of an icon.
