First The Point, then The O2, now… 3Arena.

After much speculation, Three today announced that the new name for what was formerly The O2 is 3Arena.

The Live Nation-owned 13,500 capacity venue plays a significant role in the Irish entertainment industry, with over 100 gigs per year being hosted. Some of the biggest acts in the world are set to take to the stage of the refurbished venue in the coming months, including Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, Ennio Morricone, Imelda May, The Who and Peter Gabriel.

Elaine Carey, CCO, Three Ireland said; “Three is delighted to bring more enhanced music experiences to Three and O2 customers and music fans alike. Through customer rewards, spectacular in-venue experiences and technical innovations, we’re committed to building on a venue that houses some of the world’s greatest live music acts. As we hand the re-mastered 3Arena over to the people of Ireland to enjoy, we have no doubt that they will capture many incredible memories, for years to come.”

To mark the arrival of the re-mastered venue on the Dublin skyline, using the venue as a canvas, Three is hosting ‘3Arena Illuminated.’ Through animation and words projected high onto Dublin’s landmark 3Arena, this will be Ireland’s biggest-ever 3D projection-mapped project and will light up the city skyline like never before. For four days only, ‘3Arena Illuminated’ will gather music fans’ music memories on Three’s social media channels and share them with the world.

Mike Adamson, CEO of Live Nation Ireland and owners of 3Arena, said, “We are excited to embark on this new journey and welcome our new partner Three on board. Their ambition for the venue is incredibly exciting and music fans across Ireland will ultimately benefit. We always aim to bring the best entertainment experiences to our customers and 3Arena will continue to thrill music fans for years to come.”
