We HAVE to go to this!

We’re used to seeing him playing to thousands at the 3Arena but Ed Sheeran will perform an intimate gig for just 400 people at Whelan’s in Dublin later this month.

According to Rolling Stone, the special night will be broadcast live for VH1’s Storytellers, a series in which musicians pick and perform at a venue that has personal meaning to them.

Sheeran is said to have chosen Whelan’s as it was the venue where he watched Damien Rice perform more than a decade ago, a concert that Sheeran credits with changing his life.

“It’s amazing to come back to perform at a place that means so much to me personally. I was only about 11 or 12 years old when I saw Damien [Rice] play at Whelan’s and that night literally changed my life. The time he spent talking with me after the show made all the difference. It inspired me in a way that I only hope to do for someone else.”

No details have yet been released on tickets for the event, which will take place on January 24th.
