Festival makeup sorted: simple, standout, achievable looks

Cathy Donohue

Festival season is the perfect time to play around with your makeup and experiment with different looks.

It’s the time of year when you can get away with glitter roots, star stickers, feathered eyebrows, rose eyeliner and all the other wacky trends you’d never even think about on a normal day.

Of course, if that’s not for you, there are subtle ways to approach the trend with holographic nails and metallic eyeshadow.

We’ve rounded up some of our favourite festival beauty looks, go forth and try…

Muted metallics

This is one look that will never date and when you opt for silvery, gold tones, you can match these neutral shades to pretty much any outfit. Layer up the eyeshadow, blend, blend, blend, and you can go to town when it comes to pretty shapes. If you’re creative, the options for festival makeup are endless.

Bold lips

If you want a stand-out look with minimal effort, dramatic lips is where it’s at. There are so many coloured shades to choose from including NYX’s Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick (€9), Denim Dress is particularly bold and MAC’s Work It Out Collection includes lime and yellow options (€20). You can also try holographic, deep purple, Barbie pink…the options are endless but we’re particularly mad about this unicorn-inspired hue, pictured below.

Lash love

If you have zero time to get ready but still want a little festival glam in your life, fake lashes are your best friend. There are multiple €2 options in Penneys and if you want to up your lash game, there are other luxe fashion styles on the high-street. Happy days if you’ve left festival planning until the very last minute…
