Girl Group GRL Announce Split Nine Months After Death Of Band Member

GRL have announced that the band is to split, nine months after the shock death of band member Simone Battle.

The band was launched as a five-piece in 2013 by Pussycat Dolls choreographer/director Robin Antin and scored a global hit last year with single Ugly Heart.

However, the group were hit by tragedy last September when singer Battle was found dead at her home at the age of 25.

While the three remaining members Paula Van Oppen, Natasha Slayton, Lauren Bennett and Emmalyn Estrada vowed to continue in the wake of Battle’s tragic death, it has now been announced that the band has decided to split.

“Nearly nine months following the tragic death of band member Simone Battle, girl group G.R.L. announces today that they are disbanding. We wish them continued success in each of their next creative endeavours,” read a statement from Kemosabe Records, RCA Records, Larry Rudolph and Robin Antin.
