Here’s who will probably win the Eurovision, according to Spotify

They've predicted where each country will come.

Laura Holland

Potential spoiler alert!

The 61st Eurovision Song Contest will take place this Saturday. We already know some of the countries through to the final from the first semi-final on Tuesday, but our very own Nicky Byrne competes tonight, in the second semi-final, for his spot on Saturday’s show.

But before all that we could know the overall winner.

Spotify has released the list of countries in order of the likelihood of winning. According to BuzzFeed, they based their ranking on the most-streamed tracks on Spotify from this year’s contest and even mirrored the structure of the voting process by excluding plays from the artist’s home countries, because they can’t vote for themselves in the competition.

And before we dismiss their method of guessing who will win, that same method lead them to predict that Sweden would win last year. They even managed to place seven other countries in the top ten.

So drum roll please….

This year they reckon Sweden will win, for a second year running, with their entry If I Were Sorry.

Poor ole Nicky Byrne doesn’t even make the top ten and neither do our neighbours, Britain.
