Hozier to release live recording of ‘The Parting Glass’ for charity

Jade Hayden

An incredible performance.

A few weeks back, Hozier gifted us all a stunning rendition of ‘The Parting Glass’ on The Late Late Show.

One of the first Late Lates since the the Covid-19 pandemic began, the singer took to the stage to pay tribute to those who had lost their lives as a result of the outbreak.

The incredibly moving performance touched viewers around the country as the singer delivered his beautiful and emotional rendition of the Scottish trad song.

Hozier had appeared on The Late Late Show to appeal for donations for the ISPCC and Childline, who have received an upsurge of calls since the virus began.

Now, the artist is releasing his live recording of The Parting Glass in a bid to raise even more funds for the charity.

The track will be available to buy across all digital platforms from Friday, April 17 and all of the proceeds will go towards the ISPCC’s Childline.

Hozier’s rendition was originally part of a series of streamed performances from Irish acts to raise awareness for children in need.

The two week long digital event alongside RTÉ’s 2FM took place on each artist’s Instagram feed. Viewers were then encouraged to donate whatever they could to the ISPCC.

Danny O’Reilly, Wild Youth, Kodaline, Dermot Kennedy, Picture This, Gavin James, Mark Feehily, Walking On Cars, Hudson Taylor, Orla Gartland, Sean & Conor Price, Lyra, Allie Sherlock and Niall Horan also lent their talents to the initiative.

There has been a 59 percent increase in engagements with children across all Childline online platforms since March 17.

The charity relies on donations for 90 percent of their funding.

Hozier’s ‘The Parting Glass’ cover will be available for download across all digital platforms from April 17.
