HUGE US News for Irish Artist Hozier

This is an incredible achievement for the Wicklow musician.

Count yourself even luckier if you managed to bag tickets to one of Hozier’s upcoming gigs, as the Wicklow man is a bona fide global star.

In amazing news for the singer-songwriter, he has managed to enter the US Billboard 200 Chart at number two.

This marks the second highest charting debut album on the charts this year, and comes after the Irish musician’s stellar performance on Saturday Night Live.

New York Magazine and Entertainment Weekly have been among the high-profile publications to wax lyrical about the self-titled release, calling the album “Gospel-inspired epic” and saying “Hozier possesses a voice that’s remarkable not only for its tonal beauty but also for its versatility”.

Hozier’s album entered the US Billboard/Soundscan 200 this week at the number two position after selling an incredible 57,859 copies.

Internationally, “Hozier” entered the Canadian Album Chart at 2, Belgian Album Chart at 3 and UK Album Chart at 5. It also secured Top 15 chart positions in Denmark (9), Holland (11) and Germany (14).

Last weekend, Hozier wowed TV audiences as the the first debut artist of 2014 to appear as musical guest on SNL, performing hit single Take Me To Church and current single Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene.

In further good news for the star, Hozier has won the EBBA (European Border Breakers Award) for Ireland in 2015. The European Border Breakers Awards (EBBA) are about breaking down borders and recognising emerging European rock, pop and dance artists who achieved success in other countries than their own.
