Kelly Clarkson has admitted that she has been repeatedly turned down for collaborations by her favourite artists.

The Since You’ve Been Gone singer was talking to Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1 when she revealed that she has approached several of her contemporaries to team up on songs but is always rejected.

“I honestly would collaborate with a lot of people, but everyone usually says no. I’m not kidding you. I have legitimately asked several people who I’m not going to call out. And that’s cool, but I don’t know”, she said.

According to The Mirror, the former American Idol contestant did manage to convince John Legend to appear on track Run, Run, Run from her new album but said that she has no idea why other stars do not want to work with her.

“I got John Legend to say yes, so that’s cool. I ask good people, I don’t want to sing with crap people, so I ask people who are great vocalists, but I’m not going to point out anyone. I have asked several people, but sometimes I feel like I have the plague, or leprosy, they’re like, if I get too close … I don’t know.”

Clarkson welcomed her first child, daughter River Rose Blackstock, in June 2014 and will release new album Piece By Piece later this month.
