A job is a job…
But my job definitely has some perks, especially when it comes to being flown over to London by Universal Music Ireland and getting to attend one of Europe’s biggest music awards of the year, The Brits.
My day started off in the office as it usually would, I had a nice oat milk hot chocolate because although I look 30, I am in fact four years old! After a few hours in the office I went to the airport with my little suitcase that had way too many clothes for an overnight stay in London.
But as we all know, you need four backup outfits just in case the other three don’t work – and we also know that there’s still a possibility that you could be running to the closest shopping centre to kit yourself out in drastic circumstances!
I was a little late, so yesterday’s workout involved me running through the airport. Lucky for me I arrived at the gate just in time and met everyone who was coming over for the night with Universal Music Ireland.

Over the sea we went and into City Airport we landed, a quick taxi to our hotel and a very quick change into one of four outfits and I was ready to go. We had a delicious dinner in a very nice restaurant right beside our hotel before we tubed to the awards. I got the steak, ribeye, it was delicious.
Once we arrived at the O2 Arena it was buzzing, people everywhere and queues everywhere, the excitement was real.
Our seats were on balcony one and we could see all the stars who were just below us having their dinner during the awards, including Lewis Capaldi and Billie Eilish, just to name a few.
Comedian Jack Whitehall was hosting the show and did an absolutely fantastic job. Mabel was the first act on who got their crowd going with her song ‘Don’t Call Me Up’ and also went on to win Best British Female later in the night.

Then Jack Whitehall came back on stage to tribute his friend, Caroline Flack. “She was a kind and vibrant person with an infectious sense of fun,” he said. “She will be missed.”
Whitehall’s tribute was followed by a stunning performance of ‘Someone You Loved’ by Lewis Capaldi which had the audience in tears. It was a lovely few moments to be part of. You could feel the sadness in the room, there were people in there who lost a very good friend.

Lewis Capaldi went on to win two awards, Best New Artist and Song of the Year. He also explained that contrary to what everyone might think, ‘Someone You Loved’ was not written for his ex (now Love Islander) Paige, it was written for his late grandmother!
We also saw Billie do the first live performance of the new James Bond soundtrack ‘No Time To Die’ and she also won Best International Female Solo Artist. She was starstruck accepting her award from Sporty Spice, aka Mel C.
The night was absolutely brilliant, made even more brilliant by the pizza I got midway through the show. Now time to go back to normality.
