The Brit Awards took place last night and Lorde led the tributes to the legendary David Bowie who passed away in January of this year.
Lorde, who will turn 20 this November sang a beautiful rendition of his track, Life On Mars? from the album Hunky Dory along with a backing band comprised of musicians who played with Bowie at one time or another.
It was very well received, with Bowie’s son Duncan Jones tweeting in praise of the Kiwi singer’s passionate performance.
Finally found the links to tonight’s Brits. Just… beautiful. Thank you.

Pianist Mike Garson, who had worked with Bowie since his Ziggy Stardust days, joined Lorde on stage and tweeted about how long it took for them to get the performance just right.
.@ManMadeMoon Thank you Duncan. So glad you enjoyed it. That means a lot to the band.

Lorde herself tweeted about how she calmed down before the performance:
i was so nervous in the wings, and then i whispered to myself “just sing it to david”, and nothing else mattered
