Mariah Carey reportedly left fans, producers and crew standing in the rain for over three hours on Tuesday night when she showed up three hours late for a TV Christmas recording.

The star took to Twitter on Wednesday to apologise to the hundreds of fans who had shown up to see her performance at Rockefeller Center in New York City. She was due to sing All I want For Christmas Is You for a pre-recorded special that would air on Wednesday night.

However, it has been reported that because she was so late, show producers ended up sending her home again when she finally did show up.

They eventually agreed to give Mariah time during the live segment of the show on Wednesday in an attempt to make it up to the hundreds of fans who had gathered.

“You’ve kept me here, in your hearts, and I keep you in mine always,” the 44-year-old stated.

Mariah was on time for her live performance on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t all plain sailing as the coat she was wearing got caught up in the wires leading to her head piece.

She has since received a lot of criticism for the quality of the live performance.
