Irish bookmakers Boyle Sports have suspended betting on Niall Horan leaving One Direction following a flurry of bets in the midlands.

The hugely successful boyband has been in crisis since Zayn Malik announced he was leaving last month, despite the remaining members insisting that they plan to continue as a four-piece.

Speculation had previously grown that Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson were eyeing up solo careers but now, punters have been laying a slew of bets on the Mullingar man being the first member to follow in Malik’s footsteps.

According to the Irish Mirror, the odds of Horan leaving One Direction have been slashed from 8/1 to 3/1 over the weekend and one gambler in Co Westmeath laid a €500 bet on his imminent exit.

“Our traders had to suspend betting at 11:30am on Monday morning after another large bet was placed on Niall in his native county to be the next member to leave One Direction,” a spokesperson for Boyle Sports said.

“If Niall is the next member to leave One Direction, one thing for sure is that we are in for a battering of a five figure amount from cagey punters across the Midlands. One Way or Another, the sell by date on One Direction looks set to expire sooner rather than later judging by the support for Niall to leave over the past few days.”
