The rumours are true, one of Ireland’s biggest festivals will return this year...

One of Ireland’s biggest festivals took a break for 2012 but this morning it has officially confirmed that Oxegen will return for the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The festival, like its famous counterpart Glastonbury, announced last year that they would be taking a year off in 2012 and would return in 2013. However, speculation was rife that we might have seen the last of Oxegen.

This morning MCD, the driving force behind Oxegen, announced that the weekend music fest will return to the Punchestown Race Course for the 2013 August Bank Holiday.

The number that the festival is catering for this year, on the other hand, has decreased significantly. Oxegen will now have capacity for 50,000 instead of the 80,000 of previous years.

The line-up for the festival is due to be announced at 8am on Monday, 22nd of April, while tickets will go on sale Friday, 26th of April. There will be a limited period between 8am on the 26th and 8am on the 27th where customers will be able to buy the tickets at price reduction of €75 on 2011 prices.

Previous acts that have graced the stage at Oxegen have included the likes of The Killers, The Cure, Muse, Lady Gaga, The Kings of Leon and Jay-Z.

Ticket prices will be €149.50 for a three-day camping pass and €129.50 for a two day non-camping pass.
