Samantha Mumba probably thinks we’ve forgotten how bizzare her ‘I’m Right Here’ music video was…

Ciara Knight

…but we haven’t!

Samantha Mumba’s 2002 ‘I’m Right Here’ music video came at a time when our country was in desperate need of inspiration, motivation and the belief that we could change the world. To our youthful eyes, it was a superb work of art and we all wanted to be her, at any cost.

Looking back on the video in the present day, it shows how low our standards were in terms of music video storylines, cinematography, continuity and any sort of logic whatsoever.

Let’s expose this video for the farce that it was and still remains to be. Sorry, Samantha.

The entire thing was set inside a fully operational fire station, as if they weren’t busy enough…

Samantha and her friends casually having a sing-song on what appears to be the fire station’s only bed

What’s the best way to pass time between life-threatening fire emergencies? DANCING, obviously.

Every fire station has a dog and every fire station dog has a pearl necklace, apparently!

CODE RED! There’s a fire!

“Get in, girls! We’ll worry about our highly flammable outfits later!”

THANK GOD THERE’S A SEXY POLE TO SEXILY DESCEND ON

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 18.59.00

Having a quick smile on their way to a potentially life-threatening fire emergency, as you do…

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 18.59.44

Oh perfect, it’s not a fire. It’s a couple having an argument. This isn’t a waste of our already stretched emergency response units at all.

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.01.30

Naturally, the girls have arrived just in time to hose this man down now. WHAT.

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.03.20

He is sopping wet, please stop, Samantha

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.04.42

Fantastic, this guilty-until-proven-innocent man’s non-existent fire has been sufficiently extinguished, so now Samantha can have a celebratory sexy dance up against a fire engine. FINALLY.

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.05.27

OH NO! There’s been another emergency!

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.12.02

Not to worry, potential victims of a fire, Samantha is climbing a ladder to help you

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.13.01

Oh, it’s just another couple arguing. Starting to see a pattern emerging here…

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.14.23

Yep. Samantha’s here to give him a good hosing down

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.15.21

Thanks Samantha, for drenching my boyfriend even though I was quite possibly equally to blame for our argument which you failed to even ask about.

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.18.36

Oh my God, an actual fire has broken out this time. CAN THE GIRLS HANDLE IT?

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.20.14

Of course they can! With a quick drive-by splash of water that arrives roughly 3 seconds before the actual fire truck comes into the frame

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.21.19

You’re welcome, gentlemen! (That white smoke also indicates that a new Pope has been elected)

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.23.01

The inappropriately dressed firefighters are chuffed with their performance thus far. Another quick sexy dance!

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.23.58

That’s quite enough firefighting for one day, back to the station for ANOTHER quick sexy dance

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.25.18

FFS Samantha, that pole is for emergencies only

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.26.36

Oh here’s Samantha’s fella waiting for her now after a hard day’s unnecessary work

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 19.27.34

Chuffed with herself, the divil
