X Factor 2012 winner James Arthur has been fired by Simon Cowell according to reports this morning.

The music mogul, who owns Syco Records, apparently made the decision after finding out about one of the singer’s latest lyrics.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: “It seems James is self-destructing. He has done himself no favours with his outburst. It’s as if he’s almost willing Syco to drop him.”

The lyric in question is allegedly from a song called Follow The Leader on his mixed tape and is said to include the phrase: “I’m gonna blow up your family like I’m a terrorist”.

While Arthur defended the lyric on Twitter, claiming that the words were taken from the letter of a “demented fan”, it seems it’s too late.

The source added: “He’s blown it now… The top bosses there were prepared to go ahead with another album and try and rehabilitate James with the public

“But he had to be prepared to actually change and take some responsibility. He’s made it clear that’s not going to happen. It’s a very sad and messy way for this to all end.”

Neither Syco Records nor Simon Cowell has confirmed or commented on the reports.
