Taylor Swift Hits Out At X Factor Star Olly Murs For Being ‘Sexist’

Taylor Swift has accused X Factor alum Olly Murs of being sexist, after he made fun of her songwriting in a radio interview.

Murs was speaking on Australia’s 2DayFM when he hit out at the Shake It Off singer for referencing her high-profile relationships in her hit singles.

Her latest track Out Of The Woods references an ex-boyfriend who cried while getting stitches after a snowboarding accident and it is believed to have been written about Harry Styles.

Swift dated the One Direction star for three months back in late 2012 and the Troublemaker singer slammed her for continuing to write about their relationship.

“Come on [Taylor], let it go. Write something new that isn’t about Harry. Bless him, it’s been like two years and he’s still getting lashed out of it isn’t he?”

However, Swift was not taking it lying down and hit back this week by saying that she was being unfairly targeted because she is a woman.

“You’re going to have people that are going to see the depth from which you approached a song – that you put your real emotions into it and that that’s valuable and that’s good and that’s real. And then you’re going to have people who are going to say, ‘Oh you know she just writes songs about her ex boyfriends.’ But I think frankly that’s a very sexist angle to take.

“No one says that about Ed Sheeran. No one says that about Bruno Mars. [They’re] writing songs about their exes, their current girlfriends, their love life and no one raises a red flag there. The most important thing to me is about maintaining artist integrity.”
