An Irish singer, Áine Cahill, performed at a special BBC2 broadcast at Glastonbury last night and made a huge impression.
A few months back we featured Áine in Women You Should Know, a list of Irish women we compiled who we admire and are really excited about it.
At the time of putting the list together we said, “Her unique voice and keen songcraft are sure to set her apart this year.”
People are talking about @Aine_Cahill and with good reason #IWD2016 #HerWYSK https://t.co/kAoMjbWf4l pic.twitter.com/1P3I54b59I

And that is exactly what has happened following her appearance at Glastonbury.
She was part of the BBC2 coverage which saw her performing one of her own songs, Black Dahlia, and being interviewed by the presenters.

Naturally, Twitter blew up after her performance with people praising her and some saying that she is the ‘next big thing’.

@Aine_Cahill I heard you sing but didn’t catch your name so had to Google “Stunning Irish singer Glastonbury” to find you!

The singer herself has been shocked by the response:
Just found out I was trending last night? WHAAAAAT?!?? #Glastonbury #bbc ##delighted pic.twitter.com/ZldBZyhkIn

She was also as cool as a breeze after the performance when chatting to the presenters:

The Cavan singer/songwriter has released three songs so far, but they have firmly put her on the map as one of Ireland’s most exciting young artists.
Her third single, The 27 Club, got people talking in a big way and saw her being described as ‘Lana del Ray meets Nirvana’.
Here is the music video for the song she performed, Black Dahlia, which she says is about the murder of 22-year-old, Elizabeth Short, in 1947 in Hollywood and how her killer got away with it.
Things are only going to get bigger for the singer.
