The Script have officially sold out their first gig at Croke Park, with all tickets for the performance being snapped up within hours of going on sale this morning.

After days of speculation, the Irish act were announced as the headliner for the June concert at a special press conference last Friday, where frontman Danny O’Donoghue spoke of their excitement at the prospect of performing at the stadium.

“I called up my mum to tell her that we were playing Croke Park and she was saying ‘Do you know your father used to sell sandwiches behind Croke Park?’ He didn’t have a little trolley so he’d put them in a pram and bring them down to people coming in from the GAA matches. It would be amazing if he was here to hear the news and see this’. So it will be a very special gig, we all have our ties to this place in some way and nothing tastes sweeter than an Irish show.”

The gig will take place on June 20th, which marks the 30th anniversary of U2′s debut at Croker, and Pharell Williams will join the band as special guest.
